Starting with a summer meal and reading program which provided free meals, books and school supplies to youth in the McElderry Park neighborhood in East Baltimore the founder of the program that would one day blossom into Unique Fabrics has been committed to the growth and empowerment of the community.
In response to the needs and desires of the neighbors Unique Fabrics was born as a sewing program for women and girls. The program offers participants critical design and making skills, while also creating a pathway to economic empowerment.
In addition to its sewing program, Unique Fabrics has also hosted grant writing workshops to help other leaders in the community launch initiatives and use their unique gifts to serve others
